The upper tiber valley
PIETRALUNGA
Pietralunga is positioned on a hill at 566 meters above sea level. It was founded by the ancient Umbrian people and governed by Romans. Cittą di Castello built the fortress. Pietralunga still conserves its Medieval aspects, surrounded by walls and overlooked by the Lombard Rocca, constructed in the eighth century, and though modified in part, has conserved its original pentagonal basement intact.
Also very interesting is Pieve di Santa Maria (XII Century) and its beautiful roman entrance door, Raffaellino del Colle's Fresco and Santuario della Madonna dei Rimedi. Nearby is Pieve De' Saddi. In Candeleto there is the Naturalistic Museum with a collection of 300 ornithological specimens, as well as an fully equipped camping site.
